3D Modelling - Suou Rin and.... the presentation?!

I have a 3D Modelling class and for the final assignment, we have to model a character in 3 weeks. The lecturer recommended us to not model anime characters because it will be hard, especially their eyes. I decided to anyway because I don't know much non-anime character. ;_; *sobs*

I decided on doing Suou Rin because I really like her outfit and I like Rin. <3

I wasted the first week not doing any modelling because I was rushing to meet other assignment's deadline so I have to start at the end of the 2nd week, which left me with only a week to complete. OTZ

I redid the head SO. MANY. TIMES. but I can't really get it right but I'm also running out of time so I proceed with the rest of her body. The hair itself took me 2-3 days omg because I made this 'wise' decision to model it complicatedly. I just don't want it to look plain. ;_; Sleeping at 3am everyday for a week happened after that.

The eyes are also a challenge because they are too big and it doesn't fit the socket really well... Plus the reference pics are so blur I had to imagine some parts. I really try to put in a lot of effort in this character because I can't stand the thought of her looking unnatural. It was hard because it was my first time modelling a character as well. *cries*

It was my turn to present for this assignment and it was still not complete in the morning. ._. I tried rendering but it doesn't work properly and I didn't know about Playblast that time. I panicked because my presentation was happening in an hour and I was still desperately trying to compile my report and video of the character 3D turnaround.

I have to admit, I kinda gave up when I saw how complete my friends' presentation are. OTZ They have the close-ups shots from this and that angle and all sorts of reference picture but mine is just a simple turnaround of the character without any legit description. -.- I was convinced I'll get scolded because the lecturers were not in a good mood due to so many people not finishing the assignment on time and thus, were scolding everyone.

Predictably, I was very nervous to present so I went, "Sorry, I don't have any close-ups pictures for my video. Just the full body" and I played it. I looked at my lecturer and he was starting to shake his head; I was horrified.

"Man, I really have to give it to you for the effort. It's just simply amazing. I can see that you enjoyed doing it. Look at the ribbons, man. Just make sure to keep the poly lines cleaner next time."

I'm was like "huh?". He's actually just shaking his head because he doesn't know what to say. He was bombarding my friends earlier. Scare die me. I got praised for my attention to detail and honestly, I do not know what to say except thank you. ;_; He also asked me to share it to the class how I did it and to put it in my portfolio.

At the end of the class, he gave me a compliment again in front of the whole class and I feel really proud because this semester has been so unfamiliar for me with all the degree things which I'm not sure whether I'm doing fine or not. This is really a confidence boost. THANK YOUUUUUU.

The eyes are a little bit bulgy hahaha because the sockets are so big I don't know how to adjust. I also wanted to add more creases to her clothes but I ran out of time. I also forgot to model some clips on her hair  By the way, the software I used is Autodesk Maya 2015.

I'll continue to improve more in the future!

MMU Registration Day May Intake (25/5)

Can't sleep the previous night coz I was too anxious >.< But apparently, I will have nothing to worry about. I didn't know Orientation Week would be this fun. Before heading out.  Feels like I'm not in Malaysia... haha XD  Arrived! <3  Waiting to enter Grand Hall...      Arrived at 8.30am and paid for my insurance and waited for my schoolmates after that. Entered Grand Hall at about 9am. The seniors stood in a row at each side and clapped their hands, welcoming us freshies in. I have no idea what they're chanting about though.      We went in and registered ourselves. There were a lot of people... >.< Like pasar malam. I met a friend of Ben's there, Sandy. We hit it off immediately.      After that, I followed Ben to register hostel rooms. We went to the boy hostel and I didn't know. No one told me that girls must register at the girl hostel... Shopping for Japan trip and CNY

Exam week is here and I only have 3 papers.. There's a long break between my papers so I went home since it's been a long time.. The house looks different everytime I go back because we are renovating.      For the past few months, or should say years, I've been sharing a bed with mom. I has come to the point where I'm too big to even fit in -.- so they moved my sleeping quarter to my cousins' room. I prefer sleeping there as I have my own space after soooo long.. And it's very comfortable. I like to just lay in it at night and ponder about life.      On Saturday, we went shopping! I've never really shopped properly since I've entered MMU, which is about 7 months... because the time constraint just doesn't allow me to. We shopped for CNY but I think it's mostly for our Japan trip this October.. >.> I think I can just re-wear last year's outfits since some of them are still unused. My God, I sound like a cheapskate. ...
